At Eureka Veterinary Clinic, we understand that your pets are part of the family. Whether they love running through the park, visiting friends, or curling up beside you on the couch — we all want to keep them feeling their best.

Fleas and worms may seem like small issues, but they can cause itchiness, tummy troubles, and general discomfort. Staying on top of prevention is a simple way to keep your pet happy, healthy, and ready to enjoy life.

Why Prevention Still Matters in Autumn

As the weather cools, many people assume parasite protection isn’t needed — but fleas and worms can still linger in the environment, particularly in warm homes, bedding and shared spaces.

Even if your pet doesn’t seem affected, regular prevention helps keep them comfortable, especially if they:

  • Socialise at parks, training or grooming
  • Stay at kennels or visit other households
  • Live with multiple pets

Some pets can carry a few parasites without obvious signs — but they may still pass them on to other animals (or bring the itch home!).

Heading North? Let’s Talk Tick and Heartworm Protection

While ticks and heartworm aren't an issue in our area, we do see local pets heading to Gippsland and northern Victoria where these risks increase.

If you’re planning a trip, we can recommend simple protection to help your pet travel safely.

A Tailored Approach for Every Pet

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to parasite protection. Our vets can guide you toward a product that suits your pet’s lifestyle and temperament — whether you prefer monthly chews, spot-ons, or combination options.

We’re always happy to answer your questions at your next visit.

The Eureka Vet Difference

At Eureka Veterinary Clinic, we pride ourselves on compassionate, personalised care. We take the time to get to know your pet and your routines, so we can offer advice that feels helpful — not overwhelming.

Flea and worm prevention is just one part of supporting your pet’s wellbeing, and we’re here to help make it easy and stress-free.
