Eureka Veterinary Group was founded by Dr Anthony Cole in 1979 and moved to our current purpose-built hospital at 121 Creswick Rd Ballarat in 1990. Our spacious reception area showcases top quality pet foods, grooming and bedding products and leads, collars and toys. Our friendly reception staff can help you with parasite control, dietary advice and our popular puppy preschool classes and you are welcome to drop in anytime and weigh your pet on our large in-floor scales. For your pet’s comfort and safety we do ask that all pets are restrained appropriately (dog lead, cat carry cage etc) before entering the clinic. Outside there’s plenty of off-street parking available.
Diagnostic imaging is integral to our ability to successfully diagnose and treat your pets. We have a dedicated x-ray room with automatic processing as well as a ultrasound unit that is used for everything from pregnancy diagnosis to assisting in tumor diagnosis.
We offer a range of the super-premium Hills, Eukanuba and Pedigree Whiskas and Advance foods, ensuring there’s an optimum food to suit every pet. Should you require advice on which is best for your pet, our trained staff are able to assist. All super premium foods carry a money back guarantee to ensure confidence in your selection. We also carry the Hill’s Prescription Range of pet diets tailored specifically for individual medical problems, and can order other brands of prescription foods should they be required.
Our Creswick Rd hospital has three dedicated consultation rooms where your pet is examined, vaccinated and in many cases, treated. To minimize waiting time for you and your pets we run consultations by appointment between 8.45am-10.15am and 2pm-6pm on weekdays, and Saturdays 9-1pm. You are welcome to request a specific vet at the time of booking and both male and female vets are available should you or your pet have a preference. We advise that payment is required at the time of consultation.
Our dedicated surgery is used for all major surgeries and exclusively “clean” operations. Other procedures such as blood tests, dental cleaning, abscess drainage etc are performed in our large treatment room. We use isoflurane gas in all three of our gaseous anaesthetic machines – currently the safest general anaesthetic gas available for veterinary use. All anaesthetics are monitored and recorded by veterinary nurses, aided by monitoring equipment such as apalerts and a pulse oximeter. Preanaesthetic blood tests, IV fluids and intra-operative heat pads are just some of the other ways we can provide the best support to your pet during surgery. We have specialized equipment to enable our vets to perform a wide range of orthopedic (bone) surgeries as well as major soft tissue operations. Eureka Veterinary Hospital is well-situated to provide fast, accurate diagnostic laboratory equipment. We use the latest Idexx in-house haematology (blood count), biochemistry and electrolyte technology to ensure results are available within minutes of collection. Quality microscopes allow rapid examination of samples, for example for parasites and urine analysis or cells taken from lumps. Alternatively we have diagnostic outsourcing available with leading partners in the veterinary fields.

Mt Clear Veterinary Clinic is staffed primarily by our two practice principals, Dr Todd Gardiner and Dr Mike Sheedy as well as a veterinary nurse. Mt Clear stocks the same top quality pet foods, parasite control and pet accessories as our Creswick Rd Hospital, and is constantly linked online with Creswick Rd. This also means that should your pet require a repeat of medication, you can phone ahead and arrange for it to be collected from whichever clinic suits you best.
Consultations at Mt Clear Vet Clinic are by appointment between 9.15am- 10.30am and 3pm-6pm Monday to Friday. Routine surgery, including desexing, is also scheduled at Mt Clear
